One more post about the dentist

So yesterday was the dental appointment to fix Reggie's monster cavity.  We got there an hour before our appointment because Reggie was going to be sedated for the work.  They had him drink some medicine and sent us out to the waiting room for about 45 minutes to let things kick in.

They had said that the medicine makes some kids hyper, and Reggie got to be one of those kids.  It was pretty hilarious.  We were watching Toy Story 3 in a dark room in the waiting room, but Reggie was bouncing off the walls.  He kept running around and could not for the life of him sit still.  He would sit for just a second and then come bouncing down to me and say, "Mom, Buzz's head is purple."  Or "Mom, Woody wrote on his shoe."  And then he'd bounce off laughing.

When they came to get us, I was a little worried about how energetic he still was.  But as soon as they put the laughing gas on he became so still it was kind of creepy.  The dentist came in and started to work, and I planted myself and Colby in the corner.  And then the dentist starts ripping things out of Reggie's mouth and started yelling at the assistant, "Suction!  Suction!  Suction!"  Yeah, Reggie was throwing up.  So they rolled him to his side, suctioned, and grabbed the trash can.  It was a little scary for me, but the dentist said it was totally normal and that that was the first time they'd caught all the puke before it got on the floor.

After that, I was just hoping the dentist would work fast.  And thankfully, he did.  Reggie got a filling and two crowns.  Poor experimental child.  You had better believe that we'll be getting our kids into the dentist as soon as recommended no matter how good they are at brushing.

And for the record, we call Reggie's silver teeth his Optimus Prime teeth and he thinks they're pretty cool.  Hopefully he feels that way until he's 10 or 12 because those teeth probably won't fall out until the end.

Who knew. That is quite a bit to deal with. I would have loved to see jumping off the walls Reggie. Glad to hear that he is doing better. Guess I should start looking into a dentist!
